Commit to one fundraiser in 2012 to support the work of the RRENEW Collective.
As full time volunteers, we work on a shoe-string budget, relying entirely on grassroots fundraising to support our work. RRENEW members share a humble house in the town of Appalachia, and we spend most of our budget paying the bills and the rest covers our food costs. While we are excited to cover these living expenses for current and potential volunteers, we also know that its just not enough. As a collective dedicated to social justice, we want to structure ourselves in a way that everyone can get involved, and not just those who have the economic resources. That’s why we’re turning to the broader environmental justice community for support.
Will You Commit to one fundraiser in 2011 to support the work of Grassroots Organizers in the fight for Economic and Environmental Justice?
We aren’t asking for individual contributions (though we’ll gladly accept them), what we’re asking for is a simple commitment. Our goal is to get 12 groups (collectives, organizations, student groups, collective houses, etc) to commit to throwing one fundraiser for RRENEW in 2012. You could screen a movie to educate people about the social justice movements in Appalachia, you could throw a house party, you could even have a good old fashioned cake walk (google it).
Please consider taking this on in your group, a little bit of money can go a long way in supporting long term volunteers who advance the campaigns of the Southern Appalachian Mountain Stewards.
If your group wants to commit to supporting the RRENEW Collective, just shoot us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be in touch soon.
